I went ahead and purchased a case for my new iPhone 4S. Not the brass one…everyone liked that one, me included…but it was a touch too dear for my current budget and didn’t seem entirely appropriate to ‘protect’ as much as it was a unique stylistic embellishment. So…I went with the black microfiber sleeve from Côte et Ciel. Simple, clean, and just right on cost.
I found some variations on Amazon and elsewhere…but MR PORTER had just what I wanted and offers free shipping on all orders. No tax, either, since they have no physical presence in Florida. So I entered my information and clicked the magic button that always makes me so happy. A week later…this is what I find…
Although I shouldn’t have been…I was pleasantly surprised by the lovely presentation and personalization. This experience, however small it is in the big picture, is why people pay full price and shop at reputable, hand-curated stores. The products are “the best of the best,” (at whatever price point)…and time is taken to make the end consumer feel special. And, if you were wondering, the case fits the phone perfectly. It reflects my own personal aesthetic: technical fabrics, dark colors, and precise construction. In other words…quality!
If you haven’t checked out MR PORTER before, I highly suggest it as an alternative to Saks, Neiman Marcus, even Barney’s. The selection is quite impressive and current in terms of trends.
