The next time you’re shopping, and you’re contemplating a lukewarm, half-baked, bad-day-fueled purchase…pause. Think about what you want out of that purchase. Think about the pleasure you’ll get from it, compared to the guilt you’ll have later for buying something you don’t love or can’t afford, or both (yikes!).
For a true mood lift, one that feels right, because it will last longer, and improve a daily duty everyone must complete (some more than once a day)…head over to the nearest Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, or find a computer. Try a couple samples, smell some different blends, then buy yourself some bangin’ bodywash. It sounds frivolous, but if you’re like me and you don’t want to wear heavy cologne all the time, a richly and pleasantly scented bodywash applied in the shower sticks to your skin but doesn’t reek.
I did just this series of steps on Saturday. Went in searching for good sale deals (there were none), so I redirected toward the cosmetics and fragrance area of the Saks store in Orlando, to be greeted by a helpful and high-energy (but never too pushy) sales associate (Lisa) at the Jo Malone station. Swoon! 30 minutes later and $50 lighter, I was on my way. Jo’s stuff isn’t cheap, but it smells fantastic, isn’t too heavy or synthetic, and is androgynous enough for me.
As with other beauty and fragrance products, there are many choices. As far as upscale, in-lieu-of-fragrance lines go, Molton Brown is known for body wash. I know many Manhattan men who swear by it…and they use it in high-end hotels.
I found this one from Fresh, which just sounds delicious. And it’s relatively inexpensive. Diptyque makes fabulous candles, fragrances, and to my pleasure, revitalizing shower gel, too. Any of these would make a world of difference at bath time. I’ve already enjoyed using my LB&M – it seems to go further with less volume of liquid – a trait befitting its price.
If you’ve not tried anything beyond the standard choices sold at Target and Walgreens, you should defer that questionable blouse purchase and make a more mature, adult purchase. You will not regret it.
