Being an admitted accessories obsessive, it’s natural that I would make friends with ties to the fashion industry. My first fashionable friend worked at Louis Vuitton in Seattle. When I lived there for a summer, I stopped by the store every weekend or so to scope out the offerings – eventually settling on a Taiga backpack. That’s been 6 years now. Talk about a mental aging moment…
Since then, I’ve met a guy who works for Tory Burch in New York, made friends in Tampa who work for Saks and Neiman Marcus, and tried my hardest to befriend the Twitter handler for Bond No. 9 – the best fragrance line on the market today :). The best part of knowing these people is bouncing style ideas off of them, or having higher-level style conversations than “I like Lacoste polos.”
This morning, I had a brief but inspiring text discussion with my Neiman Marcus friend about Spring trends. I have my eye on three key pieces that I could work a lot around…
Diesel Gold metal-band watch
Etro Check Two-Button Sport Coat
Etro Tasseled Linen Scarf
Love the light gold tone of the watch – not too oppressively yellow or heavy with bling. The sport coat is a statement piece, but one that you can be known for without it being obnoxious or too loud. The scarf just makes me happy…I know the linen is soft and breathable, and the tassels add a needed shot of playful color to the motif.
In all likelihood I will take these as inspiration only. The watch is within reach, so I may consider it. If you don’t recognize my screenshots – they’re from ShopStyle. It is an addictive and highly useful app for the iPhone that allows browsing, favoriting, and researching all things fashionable.
