Everyone likes to find great things – myself included – and whether they are simple or extravagant, it’s the pleasure of finding and enjoying a perfect item that can make one’s day.
Here are some great things to consider…
Makr Canvas Fold Weekender – $120, order from Makr.
I love the clean, simple lines of this weekender-tote hybrid. So many brands put an emphasis on leather, but leather can be delicate and sensitive to the elements – cotton is quite the opposite.
Land’s End Slim Fit Chinos – $39.50, order from Lands End.
Chinos don’t need to be fussy, or expensive. I like these because Land’s End is known for their staple pieces, and these look like they’d fit most guys with slim legs and a bit of a butt. Can’t beat the price, either.
Diesel Viker Straight Leg Jeans – $280, order from Saks.
I know, I know – these are pricey. And I don’t readily recommend spending so much on a pair of jeans. However, my justification for including these is that they are probably the most comfortable jeans I’ve ever worn. I don’t own a pair, but I tried them on once when they were on sale (for a humble $160). They hugged my butt the same way stiffer jeans do, but they had a softer finish, and were both tight and spacious in all of the right places. I’ve found that tight jeans look great but are often uncomfortable for long periods. These I could see myself wearing for days without protest. Let’s just say they’re on MY wishlist…
LSA Milano Black Glass Tealight Holder – $40, order from Saks.
Elegant glassware and soft lighting are both under-emphasized when people redecorate. I love lighting candles and having all surfaces gently lit at night, especially during a party. My parents have the blue version of this and it is very substantial and made of thick glass. Saks also sells versions in clear, dark blue, and light green.
Oscar and Ollie Birthday Card – $4.28, order from Etsy.
One-off stationary and greeting cards are really the way to go. No one likes getting generic drugstore cards that reference old people, farting, or pets. Do something that is genuine, beautiful, and detailed. Making your own is great too – but this is nice if you’re not a crafty kind of person.
Lululemon Athletica (any and every item in their store) – $48 to 300+, order from Lululemon.
I can’t get enough of Lululemon gear, and I’ll tell you why. It is generally the most versatile clothing I have ever worn, the fit is almost always perfect, and the attention to construction, color, and feel is unmatched. The brand is geared and marketed towards athletic types (it started out as a yoga brand), but the shirts and many of the sweaters and pants can be worn to work, out at night, anywhere really. Whereas Nike and Under Armour make clothing that would look awkward outside of the gym, Lululemon blurs the line between workout garb and clothes to live in. Check out their site, and if there’s a store nearby, stop in to get some amazing attention and help from one of their showroom educators.
More to come as the season progresses! Happy holidays!
