I’ve been feeling a regnant malaise lately. Out of money, generally fed up with all my usual entertainments. A little deflated.
Just sorta uninterested in life, which for me leads to lots of sleeping and naps.
I have however found a handful of new or renewed fixations/inspirations. Or, crutches, if you’re a cynic.
1 – spin class. Given the proper #workbitch playlist, I can escape into my burning hamstrings and semi-conscious daydreams. Change does every body good.
Soho Cycling is the best around here.
2 – Sherlock, Season 3. Like Dexter, only British. Sustains my lifelong romanticism of London, its dramatic history.
Each season is only 3 episodes, but they’re each mini-films, relatively unrelated and long enough to settle in to enjoy.
3 – Dark Chocolate of two varieties: Ritter Dark with whole hazelnuts (crunchy, roasty), and Chocolove Dark with Orange Peel (aromatic). Low sugar content saves me from an addictive urge that is never satisfied, like with cookies, cakes, etc., which induce more guilt too.
4 – This song, from Glee, and an 80s gem… (Everybody Wants to Rule the World)
Now I’m curious. What other modern Glee remakes are even better than the originals?
5 – Friends that tolerate you in your worst fog, under questionable dress, constant whine, and/or unbalanced equilibrium. They are the ones to keep.
Thank them and return the favor when the tables are swiveled.
Because I know change comes down to me, I find forcing myself out of the house, and out of bed, helps, however terrible it may seem.
How do you overcome your funks?

I hate that you’re feeling funky (and not in the fun way!), but I’m thrilled to know you love Sherlock too! Have you watched Erlander (PBS Mystery) with Kenneth Branagh and beautiful Sweden? It’s pretty fabulous, and it has the best opening song.
Let me know if I can do anything to help, friend.
