I got the most appropriate mix of gifts for my birthday this year. My parents gave me a pair of TOM’S shoes (blue and red striped), 3 books (A Single Man, The Elements of Style, and a pictorial history of the Fort Lauderdale area), and my brother gave me a beautiful print that I told him I liked. It’s a modern, cubist interpretation of a cardinal. My brother put it in a gorgeous reclaimed-wood frame that interacts perfectly with the modern feel of the print.
Then from Ragon I got the previously-referenced Burberry tote (he went a little overboard, but I’m not complaining :)), from the Kushners, a J.Crew giftcard, and from the Rosenthals, a set of gin/martini glasses with ice cups, which are fun. They also gave me a bottle of Tanqueray Rangpur, which I’ve never tried. Paul, my birthday twin, gave me a really fun tee shirt that is called ‘technicolor.’ I guess the style was big in the 80s, and he found them at American Apparel in Las Vegas. Mine is pink that turns yellow when heated…
A very enjoyable birthday indeed.
