Sarasota is the first stop on the Southwest Florida Gulf Coast, after Tampa. What was once a sleepy retirement community, popular for its beaches and European flair, is now a bustling mid-size city with imported sophistication.
I spent four years there as a student at New College, and though I missed the cosmopolitan experience of Manhattan or Seattle, I could appreciate the history of this resort town, its numerous renowned restaurants, and fabulous powder-white coastline.
Today, the city offers far more for young professionals than ever before.
“Heaven’s waiting room no more!”
